Ready to Run

The sixth annual Ready to Run™ candidate school will be held Saturday, March 27. This year’s workshop is geared toward women who have decided to run for elected office – and their campaign committee members.

Two experienced presenters will provide information, strategies and perspective on running a successful campaign. Political consultant Mary Johnson, who also is a board member and presenter for the Campaign School for Women at Yale University, will focus on campaign details. Jennifer Mahlendorf will share her experience as a deputy chief of staff and staff assistant for a major, finance director for three U.S. senators and campaign manager.

A panel of women in elected office will provide insights and perspectives on running for office. They include Freddie Gray, Omaha Public Schools Board of Education; Amanda McGill, Nebraska Legislature; Crystal Rhoades, Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors; and Jean Stothert, Omaha City Council.

The workshop takes place from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at College of St. Mary's Hilmer Art Gallery. Registration is $25 per person, or $15 for students.

Ready to Run™ is a project of the Women’s Fund of Greater Omaha and Friends of the Lincoln Mayor’s Commission on Women.
