Women hold just 23 percent of the appointed positions on Omaha-area
boards and commissions and 27 percent of the elected offices in Douglas County,
according to the latest Women’s Fund research. A new Women's Fund
initiative provides information on upcoming opportunities to serve in an effort
to help increase this percentage.

elections is available on the county websites.
The Women's Fund is committed to advancing women's leadership in our community. Each year, the organization holds a Ready to Run workshop for women interested in political offices and those who want to support female candidates. A Ready To Serve workshop provides training for women interested in board positions.
The Women's Fund also partners with the Chamber Young Professionals Council on the Ready2ServeOmaha.org website. Individuals register and fill out a volunteer
profile, and nonprofit organizations post openings for leadership
positions. Once registered, agencies can search for
potential candidates for openings, and individuals can browse through
volunteer opportunities.
