Action Alert: Oppose LB 415 and LB 89 TODAY!

Tonight, two bills that we have been opposing all session will come up for final debate starting no later than 6:00 pm. Now is the time to contact senators with your opposition as one vote could be the deciding factor between if these pass or fail.

OPPOSE LB 415 and restrictions on voter-approved ballot measures.

Just last November, nearly 75% of voters approved a ballot initiative so that all hardworking Nebraskans could earn and use paid sick leave. Now, lawmakers are one vote away from carving out exemptions for certain workers, including any business with 10 or fewer employees, seasonal ag workers and those under 16 years old. The bill also removes important protections for workers who face retaliation from their employers for using earned paid sick leave.

To further the frustration, an amendment has been filed to attempt to pass what was previously LB 258, another bill overturning the will of voters to raise the minimum wage. By any means necessary, senators are working to reverse what you said you wanted at the ballot box. Now, lawmakers need to hear directly from you!

Contact your senator today and tell them to oppose LB 415!

OPPOSE LB 89 and attempts to discriminate against trans Nebraskans.

We have been steadfast in our opposition to LB 89 because it is an unnecessary and discriminatory bill that does nothing to expand protections for women or make any improvement in our lives but could open the door for intrusive policies related to our bodies and identities. Read more about the impact this bill could have on our friends and neighbors in the Omaha World-Herald‘s article, “As lawmakers talk of fairness in sports, trans Nebraskans hear ‘you don’t belong.’

Together, we can create communities where everyone is supported, and free to live, work and play.
