In 2024, we pushed our critical mission forward fueled by your voices, dollars and support. Progress was made and setbacks occurred. No matter the work in front of us, we are reminded every day that the only way forward is together.
Let’s look at a few highlights of our collective effort in 2024:
- Invested in 21 local organizations working to create communities that are free from gender-based violence and who are expanding access to sexual and reproductive health care; and set-up three sexual health vending machines in Omaha to help remove barriers to emergency contraception. (Spoiler Alert: There is now one in Lincoln and another one in Omaha, too, as of this year!)
- Advocated for effective public policy solutions by providing testimony on 30 bills during the legislative session. Of the 24 bills we supported, 13 bills became law. Also, we defeated another anti-LGBTQ bill and helped to stop several other harmful bills, including drastic budget cuts to critical support programs during a special session.
- Passed Paid Sick Leave for Nebraskans ballot measure with nearly 75% of the vote!
- Other highlights included another record year of Circles applications and publishing updated research revealing the State of Domestic Violence in Douglas County.
